Challenge: 1,000 Hubs in 2012

Updated on January 11, 2012

Hey 2012, I've got a challenge for ya!

This year, 2012, I've decided to take a challenge upon myself of writing 1,000 Hubpages articles by the end of the year (you're more than welcome to join, too!).

Update: I've created a 1,000 Hub Challenge Facebook Page.

The Goal

As noted, I want to have 1,000 Hubs by the end of the year.

I'm doing this for two reasons:

  • It's a lofty challenge that will push me to write every day
  • I'd like to create a new, steady stream of online income

For those that don't know who I am, I'm Murray and I run the blog, Murlu.com.

In 2010, I took it upon myself to try out a similar challenge of 1,000 articles in 100 days using Helium. I didn't quite make it but I certainly got close (around 500 articles in that 100 day time-limit). I earned quite a bit of money but the change to Helium's payment methods pretty much killed off residual earnings which is why I'm now turning to Hubpages.

In short, I like to write.

Unfortunately, my blogs isn't always the best place for the quirky articles I like to publish - Hubpages has become the platform for the ... oddity.

The Rules

For anyone that wishes to join in on this challenge, there are only a few, simple rules:

  1. You shouldn't be already half way there
  2. You'll need to write about 2 - 3 Hubs a day

Simple! Right?!

I say "shouldn't be half way there" because if you're already pushing a couple hundred Hubs than the challenge may not do much for you. I'm currently sitting at about 60 hubs so I'm still a far shot off. That HUGE number ahead of you and I really puts us on our edge to get work done.

Secondly, you'd need to write about 2 - 3 hubs a day. Sure, you can write them all at the last minute but I don't think you'll get a lot out of them if you're cramming them (they'll end up low quality, imo).

Other-than-that, it's not a race but a challenge to simply see if it's possible to make it all work.

Coming Soon ... Get Started

I'd like to create a portal for this challenge as things progress where people can share their experience, gain some insight and have an alternative source of inspiration but I'll keep you in the loop as things work themselves out.

>> If you haven't joined Hubpages, take a tour, here <<

In the meantime, let's get started!
